To edit a file, you have to enter Insert mode, - hit 'I'
Hit 'Esc' to return to command mode
In command mode, hitting 'R' allows you to Replace the current character
for another
To save use ':w' in command mode
To quit use ':q'
To save and quit ':wq'
And to quit and forget any changes ':q!'
Oh yes, and to read the help ':help'
