That's fine providing /usr is mounted (vi was dynamically linked on the box I 
was using, so wouldn't load due to library problems). And when your hacking 
disklabels, its probably ill advised (especially when the reason you're 
hacking them is to re-org the partitions :) ) ed on a 21" monitor in text 
mode is umm ... interesting :)
