SunOS is the kernel; Solaris is the "operating environment" (that's about the
best description I;ve heard and it makes vague sense, regardless of what
marketing drones say). It's like Linux vs. GNU/Linux :)
I was quoting what the bod said in comp.unix.solaris regarding Solaris 2.8
.. I only plonked it verbatim as maybe there was summat I didn't know, even
though my mind was saying "don't be silly; Sun dropped the 2 point for 7
onwards".
