well if you do a "uname -a", it'll actualyl report "SunOS 5.8" ... or at 
least I think it will :) I'm basing this on the fact that Solaris 7 reports 
SunOS 5.7 in a uname ... :) So I'll correct the previous post SunOS 5.<x> is 
the kernel, Solaris [2.]<x> is the operating environment.

Now you've got me thinking about that 2 point ... it shouldn't be there. If 
it was 5 point, it'd make sense ... 2 point, I'm not sure.
