A friend of mine wanted me to spell check a Word document for him (He used
Lotus, heh) and Star Office duly did it, but when it saved it to Word
format I couldn't find anything that would read it (Wordpad or Abiword).
As far as I know geographical location has no effect on file format.

There are 3 incompatible Word formats to my knowledge. And I can never
remember which package reads which, and which package saves which.

I prefer to use the keyboard. Seriously though, I can't produce good
looking documents in Word. But that's merely an aesthetic point of view.
