On another note there seem to be a tulip driver installed somewhere but i
didn't compile it into the kernel when i previously compiled it i also
need to
know if i am going to compile it again what i need to put in the karnel to
compile the network stuff in properly?

Firstly, don't compile ethernet drivers into the kernel, unless you have
great reasons for doing so. I would ignore the tulip driver already there,
many people have problems with it, which is why LinkSys are shipping the
other one. And, once compiled, you just need to put it in
/lib/modules/2.2.14/net, and modprobe it - don't compile it into the
kernel!!
i don't have the linksys drivers there were none on the disk
Cheers,

Alex.
