I have a CVS snapshot of konqueror (KDE filemanager/browser) that make
syou wonder what Netscape have actually been doing. Features:
- NS plugin compatability - Flash, Real Player etc.
- Java (Uses the IBM JVM on my machine, can use Sun)
- ECMA/Java/JScript
- CSS 1 and most of 2
A much smaller memory footprint (although with the way KDE works, it's
hard to be exact about it), a smaller download size (it's part of kdebase,
and the src.rpm is only a few Mb and it contains most of a desktop too)
and better stability than NS. It uses themable Qt and it's open source
(don't tell RMS).
It does kind of force you to use KDE though, which I suppose is the
main problem with it. But then, KDE is probably only as big as NSPR. :)
I get the feeling jwz is laughing his socks off right about now...
