Good news: It Just Does.

No. Linux auto-detects the chipset. It Just Works.

Plug it in. It will work.
Bad news: You get absolutely 0% benefit from ATA-100 as opposed your
motherboard controller. 'Cept for the extra ide channels, if you need them.
But under Linux, having ATA-anything doesn't matter: it all acts the same,
it makes bog all difference..
