[Sheflug] fetchmail

Um - having problems with fetchmail & wondered if anybody could help?

We in our flat have a mixture of windows & linux machines on a little LAN
connected to the internet through a linux ip-masq gateway & part-time ppp
connection.

We have a single shared pop3 account at freeserve with the domain
lostgeneration.freeserve.co.uk. When the gateway goes online I was hoping for
it to grab mail from this pop3 account & distribute it between local users
mailboxes.

I was hoping user [at] lostgeneration.freeserve.co.uk would be mapped to
user@localhost by fetchmail, but apparently not.

Whoever runs fetchmail gets everybodys email in their own mailbox. It
actually gets run as root as it is executed by suid root pppd in
/etc/ppp/ip-up, so root gets all the mail.

Is this a fetchmail issue, or is it caused by incorrect sendmail
configuration? My linux gateway is set to masquerade as
lostgeneration.freeserve.co.uk, and seems to be ok on outgoing mail.

Would it be easier to use an alternative pop3 client?
