Hi Sammy,
there are a couple of IP address ranges that are sensible to use. 10.x.x.x
or 192.168.x.x are standard reserved networks for private use. I forget, but
I think there are a couple of other blocks that are reserved for private
use. Personally I prefer the 10.x range as its so bloody obvious to me even
when I've got a hangover. Make sure that if you have a connection to the
Internet that you've got IP masquerading set up so that none of these
addresses become publicly routable...it'll cause you major problems!
Linux Journal April 2000 had a couple of good articles about setting up a
home network. Their articles must be online somewhere.
