Re: [Sheflug] ejecting mounted cdroms...

Pretty old-ish... 16X... From dmesg:
hdc: BCD-16X 1997-03-25, ATAPI CDROM drive
Re: NO_DOOR_LOCKING - right, this macro is NOT defined in make *config,
you have to modify the code. And - all except 2.2.13 kernels are
downloaded from (a mirror of) kernel.org (is this what you call
'vanilla'?:-)).
Re: root / ordinary user console... Didn't check it at home. At work I've
got an older yet machine +CD-ROM:
hdb: HITACHI CDR-7730, ATAPI CDROM drive
(4X) - and this one doesn't allow you to open the door (2.2.18) whoever
mounted the CD and whoever is trying to open it... BTW, the CD is SO old,
that even "eject" doesn't work on it (with unmounted CD):-)
Still, I know it is weird, but can it depend on the distro (even
with vanilla kernel)? What distro's are you using. But - no, I am
contradicting myself - both 'my' machines have SuSE-7.0 (one of them was
installed from an eval disk though...).
..very strange...
Thanks
