[Sheflug] diald & squid
Hi there, Rush.
The reason Squid is complaining is because it cannot access a DNS
server to resolve the names of the website you want to access.
If you had a DNS server locally, it would complain the network is
unreachable or some such.
This is because the internet connection is down at the time you've
been requesting websites.
All of your problems could probably be attributed to your diald
config.
I know next to nothing about diald, so I can't help you on that
front. Provided the Squid machine is using the machine running diald
as a gateway (is it?) then diald should detect the traffic and dial
the modem/ISDN/whatever.
You might need to increase the timeouts with Squid to ensure it waits
long enough for the connection to be dialled and connected before it
starts to complain.
Sorry I can't help more, but as I said, I haven't looked at diald.
