It's not the fact it was Beta - that I saw - it's that when interviewed about
the removal, the google geezer said "it would cost too much to maintain" and
didn't say anything about creating their own. Had they said they were going
to replace it, fair enough...but they hadn't, and the plans have remained
strouded in mystery.
Whether they had plans to reinstate powersearch all the time or if its summat
they plonked in to please the general masses, I can't say.
