"Borrow a copy" ? sounds like advocating software piracy to me :-)

Its Windows, they'd want to reboot :(


Try taking the disk out of the box you're going to use as the router,
put it in <box that meets the hardware they want> for a while, and
install windows on it to keep them happy?

although without a copy of windows, I can see that being difficult :)
