[Sheflug] Jobs (Way OT)
Hi all...
I know that there have been a few mail messages about jobs flying around
recently, so I'm wondering if I can slip a "Hypothetical" ;-) question just
to see what kind of response I get (Happy to take responses off list if
that's more appropriate).
A few months ago, I sent a mail asking if anyone on the list had done any
open source java programming. Well, there was a completely hidden agenda
there, in that I was hoping to find someone who might be looking for work
that had done some open source java work. The idea being I'm rather more
concerned with what people actually do and think than (a) what an agency
thinks or (b) what their CV says.
Basically, I'm trying to grow a (small) business around some bits of open
source java and it's at the stage where I need some help with everything from
the docs to the web pages (Shudder, they are awful at the moment) to actually
cutting code and talking to people using the stuff (You can grab the latest
source from http://sourceforge.net/projects/jzjkit/ or read a bit about it a
www.k-int.com). There's not a whole lot of cash available at the moment
(roughly 12k, and that's what I'll be paying myself too) but I think that can
be expected to change. Some of the interesting stuff I'm working on might
involve the Sheffield "Information Architecture" and providing some extra
services around a tool called jake ( http://jake.med.yale.edu/docs/about.html
). So... If you happen to know of any bright individuals looking for work (Or
think I'm crazy to try and combine OS software and full time work), please
drop me a line.
Sorry for the noise,
Ian.
