Certainly with Kernel 2.4 the bar has been set a little higher -
recommendation is 2x RAM now.
Saying that:
6:06pm up 8 days, 39 min, 4 users, load average: 2.05, 2.05, 2.01
74 processes: 71 sleeping, 3 running, 0 zombie, 0 stopped
CPU0 states: 98.4% user, 1.2% system, 95.2% nice, 0.0% idle
CPU1 states: 94.4% user, 5.4% system, 91.0% nice, 0.0% idle
Mem: 384044K av, 382356K used, 1688K free, 0K shrd,40460K buff
Swap: 787104K av, 0K used, 787104K free 188044K cached
...you don't always need it :-)
