[Sheflug] Linux 2001 Developers' Conference: June 29 - July 1

A quick reminder that the deadline for booking for the summer UKUUG
Linux conference - in Manchester this year - is now just a few days
away if you want the Early-Bird rate (30 pounds plus membership).
Thanks to some generous sponsorship from IBM and others it is cheaper
than last year.

Almost all the abstracts and biographies are now up on the web:
  http://www.ukuug.org/events/linux2001/

Highlights of the programme include:
  Kernel development: Andrea Arcangeli (vsyscalls, NUMA, O_DIRECT)
  Samba TNG: Luke Leighton (Architecture & Design; also Trust Metrics)
  Flight Simulation:   Alex Perry (FlightGear)
  Linux on PDAs and Laptops: Werner Heuser (HOWTO author)
  Sledgehammer:  Bo Thorsen (AMD x86-64)
  Kernel benchmarking; Powertweak; Zerocopy; DCE;
  Journalling Flash File System;
  Heartbeat; Linux Virtual Server; Beowulf;
  KDE Architecture; Gimp; Zope
  ...and more

As last year, several speakers are visiting the UK just for the conference.

There'll be a small exhibition alongside, with some discounts on
Linux books etc. (Space still available: office [at] ukuug.org for details.)
