[Sheflug] Microsoft Exchange
Hey guys.
I'm still alive - just - but bogged down with Work (as opposed to work),
most of which is good (mmm servers) some of which is bad (internal lan class
A 128.* <shudder>).
Here's my current 'problem' though - thoughts and opinions gratefully
received. We currently have a mail setup using qmail, pop3 mail boxes,
Outlook clients (version 98), usual bog-standard stuff, still annoying me
with Windows 98's mail setup 'eccentricities'.
My ideal replacement is basically going to be Exchange, but obviously not
exchange itself. Cyrus IMAP, LDAP addressbook, etc. Has anyone any
experience of this kind of setup on a biggish network? I've read some net
literature (Exchange on Linux HOWTO, for example), also looked at some
interesting related projects which I may also use (ldap-abook for web-based
address book maintainence, or maybe Rolodap, etc.). LDAP support on outlook
looks a little crummy - I want a contacts folder, not a search box, and that
doesn't seem possible. Grr.
Any thoughts? Things I haven't seen which might work? LDAP scheme which make
outlook behave sensibly would also be good.. :)
Cheers,
Alex.
