[Sheflug] user rights and directories
okay this may seem like a stupid question but ive been trying to install
something written python lately..
im in my 'wolf' user account, as this is who id like to access the program,
and i run install.py - it tries to install programs to /usr/local or whever,
and then says it doesnt have access rights... fair enough... so i switch to
root with 'su' command...
then i type in the same command... install.py, whilst in the same
directory... and it gives me an error like cant be found or somehting....
then i try "sh install.py" and gives a load more errors.
ive had the same problem generally with things like loki game demos refusing
to install to usr local....
so can someone *please* help? surely as a user i want to be able to install
things, and usr/local/ cant be sensitive stuff or anything... how can i
install things from my user account?! without using 'su' as it seems to never
find the program i want to install after ive switched,,,
this is really annoying me, but its probabaly something really obvious isn't
it? dammit...
thanks
james
