   I'm using mandr8.0 now. I remember something like this when I used 
ver 7.2. Do you have a icon on desktop for mandrake control centre or 
something similiar? Click on it and it should give various configuration 
options. Configure your internet connection there. I may have memory 
problems here but maybe if that's wrong you do it from gnome. Something 
rings a bell with not uising kpp to connect up but instead a program off 
the k menu that says internet connection. Sorry can't be specific, I did 
get mine working under 7.2 but I'm sure I didn't use kpp for the settings.
