Been asked to send this in by someone over at Manlug.

Last year I remember that there was some discussion on this list 
about the fact that Sony were thinking about putting Linux into the 
Sony playstation 2.

The news is that they finally got it together and did it.  In their 
own conservative way of doing things they ran a market trial with 
2000 copies of the Linux version for the playstation.  The reports 
show that it took just 8 minutes for all 2000 copies to go.   Each 
playstation was priced at £150 but only to Japanese punters.

There is now an online petition asking Sony to make the Linux version 
more widely available.
