I always put Windows on first, then use LILO to boot it. However, it is
recommended that you install LILO on the Linux boot partition
You probably don't know that LILO can be installed in various places.
The usual place is either the MBR (master boot record) in which case it
gets complete control of the boot process (this is the way I do with
with win2K), or on a partition. This is the recommended way with Win2K,
then set up the Win2K boot loader to add the LILO partition as an
option.
I think I just confused myself :)
Anyway, you should find that the default will be best (LILO on a floppy)
so you just stick the floppy in when you need to boot. Then, when
everything works, you migrate it to the HDD.
