sorry, I didn't make myself very clear. DHCP was working fine, behind
the scenes. It did it so well, I didn't even realise what IP address it
had assigned. this made it difficult to telnet and ftp to my machine
externally. All I really needed to do is to find a way of automatically
emailing myself at work at boot time with the new IP address so I can
access my machine from work. So now I know how to find the new IP
address (with ifconfig) and I know how to mail it to myself (with mail
and a pipe), but I still don't know how to do that automatically at boot
time. Any help much appreciated!

Matt.
