I've had a lot of problems with non-bootable Debian CDs. Two years
of it :) Don't ask me why I just don't know.

You shouldn't be having problems with Toshiba hardware. It works
with just about anything. If it doesn't work with a Red Hat or an
SuSE CD then it might just be a hardware problem. Sounds more like
an IRQ / DMA address problem though.

There's a lot of second user Toshibas out there that work very well.
IBM stinkpads as well. Maybe another one ?

My own second user notebook was something of a lucky dip. For once I
did get lucky. USB works fine - haven't tried a web cam on it yet.
Irda is good. Sound could be better. Works very well with a PCMCIA
network card.

You didn't put MS Windows into it did you ? Shame on you.

Thanks
