Bummer... and I'd just started attempting to write one just for the hell of
it.
I'd got it into my mind that I could make it work with a two-part smtp
'bit'. The first would run either from inetd or as a daemon, picking up SMTP
messages and storing them. The second part would be run when a ppp
connection was made and would deliver the stored SMTP messages to the ISP's
relay.
Incoming would be handled by either getmail or fetchmail (why re-invent the
wheel)?
I might just do it anyway just to prove I can...
