[Sheflug] Strange behaviour with cups

Hello,

Just new to this list.
This is not a major problem to me I am just curious has anyone else run
across this behaviour from Linux and if so what is the answer.

Just a brief run down of the system.
DELL PIII 800
Mandrake 7.2
Printer HP Deskjet 520.

This system works very well but if for any reason I turn off the printer and
then start the computer (usually caused by tripping over the printer power
cord) it completely disables cups.

Any further attempts to print lead to an error message saying "unable to
connect to cups sever. Check configuration" As far as I can see the
configuration is exactly the same as it was earlier when the system was
working.

Uninstalling and then reinstalling cups has no effect on this problem.

This has happened to me twice. I spent several days on the problem the first
time and came up with nothing as reinstalled Mandrake and it is fine. The
second time I was in a hurry and just reinstalled without even trying to find
out what was going on.

I am however curious has anyone got any ideas as to what is going on?

Thank you in advance.

Llewelyn Davies
