[Sheflug] Intro

Hi all!

I sent mail to this list a few months ago -- I'm the American whose 
fiancee is getting a masters at sheffield.ac.uk -- well, despite 
everything, we're here and somewhat settled. I'm hoping to make the 
October meeting.

We've mostly been traveling around Britain so far, so I'd appreciate any
tips about Sheffield (good pubs, which football team is better, why the
weather is so bad, etc). Also, if anyone knows of any jobs...  I'm a
rather good programmer, but I'd be happy with pretty much anything.  
Maybe I should give up -- I've got the sense that unemployment is an 
important part of the Northern England Cultural Experience!
