There was a lot of serious re-writing of things at that time and 
neither Red Hat nor SuSE could get much sense out of anyone.  There 
are times when the developers just can't turn it out quickly enough.  
Look at the SuSE updates pages for more info.  SuSE 7.2 was a lot 
more sensible but you still have to get hold of a lot of updates.

SuSE 7.3 has been announced for 13th October or thereabouts.
