bear in mind that the apparent size of a process may be more than it really
is, since it includes stuff like the execuatable image and any shared
libraries, which may be shared amongst several processes. In the case of
getty, I would imagine that each process is only using a small amount of
private memory, and getting rid of the extra ones wont make that much
difference.

Also, you wont be able to do ALT-CTL-N any more and get a shiny new login
prompt :-(
