Worked okay here patching with the same command ... did you copy the entire 
patch into the file ... 87 lines by my reckoning (2555 bytes). The first line 
of the patch starts with:

	diff -urN S15/fs/inode.c S15-fix/fs/inode.c

and the last line reads (below the #ifdef's) ... yes it is part of the patch, 
rather than a duff line:

	/*

Btw, Andrea Arcangeli and Al Viro are thrashing out between them what the 
best way to fix the bug is. Andrea isn't totally happy with Al's patch and 
has suggested a couple of other ways it could be done. Al's not happy with 
Andrea's ideas, and the thread on LKML is getting quite long :)

I suspect we won't have a final patch for a day or two yet.
