[Sheflug] Bastille / Debian distro -[was Re: Suggestions of distro?]

Just wanted to thanks to Neil for all his help especially, and to everyone
else here whose thrown in their two pence worth. As it happens, i met
someone today, a friend of a friend back home apparently, and he's also one
of the developers for Debian package of WuFTP (or something like that). As
I'd like to try and get something more in depth and realiable than Mandrake
running, he's promised to come round and help me install Debian, then write
some secure firewall scripts for it and sort out KDE etc. I've decided to
this mainly due to a lot of the comments from you guys, Richard especially,
advocating Debian over the more user friendly distros. Hopefully this way,
and with his help, I'll be able to learn a lot more about the working of
linux and config file editing, rather than running wizards etc. If that
fails, then I'll switch back to Mandrake, and have a (not so secure)
firewall running.

As an aside, one of friends tonite who dabbles rather a lot in networking
explained to me that Bastille hardened firewalls are actually fairly easy to
get through, and recommed that I dont use that. Im sure I dont have top
secret stuff on my computer, but if i ever did, Id like to know it was
actually secure.

PS; im trying to get this developer guy to come to the next meeting, im sure
he'll be auseful addition to the group (hehe unlike me....)
