[Sheflug] Installing with DrakConfig on Mandrake 8.1
If 2 or more copies of this message appear I am sorry. Eudora Mail went down halfway though sending it.
I have this minor problem installing software with Mandrakes drakconfig. I know I can do it just fine by hand but it is on the system so it should work. I am sure that I have just configured something a little incorrectly. This is what I have got and the error messages I get if someone could point me in the right direction I would be great.
I have a CD burner /dev/scd0 mounted on /mnt/cdrom1
and a DVD /dev/hdd mounted on /mnt/cdrom2
When using DrakConfig to change settings in this case to install firewall soft ware I get the following message
Please insert the medium named "disc 1 Download Edition - Installation CD (x86) (cdrom1)" on device [/dev/cdrom]
The DVD drive opens I put the disk in close the drive and it spins up to speed, stops, ejects and repeats this cycle.
Having realized this isn't going to work you stop with the following error message and install manually
Failure installing iptables and Bastille try to install them manually.
I presume the problem is that DrakConfig is looking for cdrom1 on /dev/cdrom1 and it isn't there. How do I tell it to look in the right place and why does it spin up the DVD.
The CD is not faulty so it is not just rejecting a crook CD.
Thanks.
