Re: [Sheflug] Unknown device under RH7.2

I have been following this discussion with interest
and tried ls -l /dev/cdrom* to see what my system said result is /dev/cdrom -> ../cdroms/cdrom0 in white text flashing on a red background

[root@mybox cdrom1]# ls -l /dev/cdrom*
lr-xr-xr-x    1 root     root           16 Dec 30 16:47 /dev/cdrom -> ../cdroms/cdrom0
lr-xr-xr-x    1 root     root           13 Dec 26 14:08 /dev/cdrom0 -> cdroms/cdrom0
lr-xr-xr-x    1 root     root           13 Dec 26 14:08 /dev/cdrom1 -> cdroms/cdrom1
lr-xr-xr-x    1 root     root           13 Dec 30 15:55 /dev/cdrom2 -> cdroms/cdrom0

/dev/cdroms:
total 0
lr-xr-xr-x    1 root     root           33 Jan  1  1970 cdrom0 -> ../ide/host0/bus1/target1/lun0/cd
brw-------    1 richard  cdrom     11,   0 Nov 11 12:01 cdrom1

Attempting to unmount the drive gives.

[root@mybox cdrom1]# umount /dev/cdrom
umount: /dev/cdrom: not found

This is odd as I can look at the disk in the drive but I can't eject it. I don't know what I have done to the system as it was working fine to burn CDs yesterday.

Regards

Richard
