[Sheflug] The Euro

I'd like to do a little survey if I may:

Who out there has actually set up both X and the console to deal with the euro
character "¤" (I think thats the right one this Uni machine is not configured
correctly) properly

I've been trying with my machine which runs Debain woody and I've found that it
seems to be actually impossible
en_GB.ISO-8859-15 the British locale with euro support is not actually supported
by the libc version (2.2.X)

Debain Woody also only seems to come with two fonts, neep and neep alt that
actually support ISO-8859-15 which again is pathetic.

My machines other personality Win98 seems to deal with the Euro flawlessly. This
is very worrying as debian woody is pretty current and win 98 is 2 windows
revisions old now.

So if anyone out there has got en_GB.ISO-8859-15 and the Euro to work I'd be
interested to hear from you, distro version would be nice to know.

Also I've amanged to break my X locale alias along the way, so that it says
ISO-8859-1 is no longer supported. Any pointers on how to fix that would be
appreciated
