[Sheflug] Samba Dies a Death...

First time on this list...this is probably something very
simple...but I'm stumped.

Samba just went freaky on me. First off, windows couldn't find the
samba share (which was all set up properly, since I'd had it running
yesterday and the day before, etc). Then it could find it, but
couldnt access it (muttered something about permission, but it had
all the necessary file permissions etc). Now we come to the weird
bit. I checked ps. No sign of smbd and nmbd. So I restarted samba.
Still no smbd and nmbd in ps, but there was a process called samba.
Oddness continued when I tried samba status, and found out that it
claimed both smbd and nmbd weere actually running. Something's gone
crazy somewhere down the line, and I have no clue where it is. HELP!!

As i said, its probably something very simple, but I'm still
marginally clueless about all of this.
