Re: [Sheflug] Kernel upgrade
Hi Steve
If you do a standard upgrade to SuSE 7.3 you get the 2.4.10 Kernel installed. I did
this on all of my three SuSE 7.2 machines and it worked fine.
You can also choose to just upgrade the currently installed packages or you can go
for one of the SuSE default configurations.
Hope that helps
James

Subject: [Sheflug] Kernel upgrade
I'm currently running two boxes with SuSE 7.0, one of which I'm in the
process of upgrading to SuSE 7.3. Both boxes are running kernel 2.2.16
As I've never really done any serious kernel upgrades and compilation
before, I'm not convinced that compiling all the correct options in
wouldn't be something of an iterative process. I'm not looking to do
anything earth shattering on either box, just run MySQL, PHP4 and a few
other bits and bobs so I'd like to know if the pain of upgrading to 2.4.x
would be worth it.
There is one thing I might like to try out which I believe I would need
2.4.x for and that is to get some Bluetooth equipment going, although I
might not in the end attempt this.
Any thoughts?
Steve
