[Sheflug] Hard drive problem + grip under RH7.2

Re postings I made in the past with booting & dmesg problems.
I have 2 hard drives,1 Win98 and 2 as RH7.2. Win98 boots ok, no problems, RH
hangs for ages when reading partion for hda1 (win98). I can't put both drives
on the same ide socket. If I do, linux doesn't boot ( fstab, lilo, grub
configs are correct.) So win98 disk as master hda + cdrom RW hdb. Linux hdc +
cdreader on hdd. Some time back hda failed, a Fujitsu MPE3084AT 8.4gig. I
downloaded from Fujitsu site a setup/format disk for their hard drives. On
using it, it insisted that the drive was a MPE1034AT 10.5 gig.! My model
MPE3084AT is not shown on their site at all. So I went along with the format
disk but only got 8.4 & not 10.5 gig. Searching on the internet I have found
some Russian & Polish sites referring to my disk, but unfortunately I can
speak but not read Polish. When I pealed back the model sticker, underneath
was another saying it was the 10.5 g model. A faulty batch, sold cheap to the
eastern block with a diff model No. sticker? Swapped it for a old 500meg
drive (only need win** for the scanner) and linux boots up no problems now.
Grip under RH7.2. You were right Baz, works if set to rip as cdda2wav,
however even as user I'm getting this problem that machine crashs/locks up
after processing 4 tracks or so. Now my gnome window is not functioning
correctly (to many lost inodes with the constant crashes?) kde is ok.
Sorry about email length, but it is 2 messages, plus look out if someone
offers above hard drive to you.
