Well, I just signed up last night (after haven't been tipped off by
your email :-), so if you want to wait a week or so I'll be able to
tell you.

I'll be using RH  7.2. The driver seems to compile okay, but I wont
have a clue whether it works till I get me modem.

There are very few drivers available for USB ADSL modems - apart from
the Alcatel one, I saw vague references to one other, which I think
internally uses the same chipset. can't remember the model name, though.
