Go into the "dialup" area of the IPCOP config and at the bottom you can
type in two DNS addresses for your isp's servers, the auto DNS might not
be working. Also check that you do not have any DNS setting in the
options for your web browser.

Also try adding the address of your IPCOP machine as the default gateway
for your workstation.

Well thanks for the help IP Cop is certainly installed and seems to
work. From my desktop system I can now via the fire wall connect to the
web but having connected I can't go anywhere or check my mail. I presume
this is a DNS or routing problem. Can someone point me in the right
direction as to how to solve this please.

I have as a temp fix dropped back to an old external 2400 modem on the
desktop machine which defeats the purpose really.
