[Sheflug] ppa and ise-scsi on redhat
I'm setting up a friend's 'puter with Redhat 7.2 and suprisingly it has
all gone beautifully so far.
He has a parallel ZIP-100 and 2 cdroms which both use ide-scsi. The cdroms
work fine and the zip works after 'modprobe ppa', but this wiped out the
cdrom drives. I presume this is because ppa also uses scsi_hostadapter.
What is the correct entry for /etc/modules.conf to autoload the ppa module
on an access to /dev/sd*, bearing in mind it has to live with ide-scsi for
the cdroms? Should I use 'alias scsi_hostadapter1 ppa' as scsi_hostadapter
would be ide-scsi?
It seems a bit weird that I'm trying to get 2 scsi subsystems to work
together on a machine with no scsi hardware!
I haven't messed with /etc/modules.conf before as I'm a Slackware guy so
I'm not used to all this kerneld stuff. I don't have access to the machine
so I can't play with it, I'm just looking for an easy patch I can mail to
him. If anybody has done this before I'd love to hear from you.
many thanks
-Andrew
