[Sheflug] Mouse wierdness

Hi,

I'm installing debian on a friends machine and for want of a better phrase the 
mouse is "playing up." It claims to be a standard microsoft compatible 
intellipoint PS/2 job (made by logitek) but it behaves strangly. It will work 
fine for a few moments then either freeze for a few moments or jump around then 
work fine again.

I've tried both Ps/2 and IMPS/2 in XF86Config but no joy. The mouse funstions 
fine under XP. The vid card is a geforce if thats relevant.

what blindingly obvious thing have I missed.
