[Sheflug] Euro Support

Jose,

I too had a play with Euro support on my woody laptop back in Jan (I thought
it might be worthwhile as a Euroland resident). After a little bit of minor
fun (adjusting keymaps as the Euro is on my "4" key not "e" key) I sort of
got there. There were two main problems:
1. A en_GB [at] euro doesn't exist ie I could not get it to support 8859-15 for a
GB locale. en_IE I seem to remember was one very hackish solution.

2. I think only one font "Neep" actually had 8859-15 encodings. My solution
there was to borrow all my windows fonts. Also not may X applications
actually support the character, LyX for one certainly doesn't (or didn't).

It's one department where MS products put GNU/Linux to shame (Ooooh
heretic).

So I use two locales en_GB.Iso-8859-1 and de_DE [at] euro

All in all roll on UTF-8
