RE: [Sheflug] UPS Recommendations?
I got myself an APC Back-UPS 1400 a while back.
As has already been mentioned, the APC range is very popular, and is well
supported.
The apcupsd software (as well as NUTS) does a good job of monitoring and
controlling the UPS - including the controlled shutdown of any PCs attached to
it via serial communications to a master PC, and network status reports to the
rest of the machines.
I'm running 4 PCs, monitor, network hub and modem off of the UPS without
hassle. All gracefully shutdown when the UPS reports low battery, which is
rather flash :-)
The smaller APCs are also quite good - I know people with the 650VA models
that are quite good value.
Cheers.
Baz.
