i've been up all night looking for a fix for this error.

INIT: Id "1" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes

INIT: Id "6" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes

its happend on Redhat 7.1 after installing ximian desktop (just
 evolution install option)

and i have no idea what to do.
from things i have found... i know its to do with gnome, i know its
probably to do with a missing symlink.

at LILO: linux single and linux emergency both give the same errors.
if i type linux init=/bin/bash then i get to something kinda like a
 command prompt.. without the $

to test it i typed

mount -n /proc
mount -o rw, remount /

that got no errors so i tried all of the following to see if it had
 mounted

whoami
serviceconf
ntsysv
chkconfig

but it does nothin

anyway. im stuck at this point.. this is way over my head and i dont
have a clue what to do next.. anyone of you with a big ol tech brain
willing to help a sick dying sleep deprived newbie????
