This is exactly what I did, and sure enough, the setguid worked. It was just
the umask problem.

We are using CVS, incidentally. The problem is that although all developers
get their own box to check out the code and mess about, it has been decided
that all the folks down in marketting can have one box. Due to the nature of
the beast we are dealing with, there is a very specific directory structure,
and so everyone uses the same checkout, with different people using their own
CVSROOT and login details to access it. This allows us to have all the
marketting folk modifying the same physical files, and still use CVS so the
rest of us can update and see the mayhem.

Don't even try to tell me what a bad idea it is. I know :) Just trying to get
them all to use wincvs and a local checkout instead of all this nonsense is
nigh on impossible. Problem is that they are not technical folks, and still
get in a total confused mess over such concepts as case sensitive filenames
:-/

Cheers,

Craig
