[Sheflug] Wireless Networks
Hi
I have just bought two SMC wireless 11Mb/s network cards.
One is PCMCIA SMC2632 and the other is PCI SMC2602 (PCMCIA with a PCI
card attached)
Anyway
I am running SUSE 8.0 and after a bit of hacking about I have got the
card working (sort of) the laptop is showing the card as wlan0 when I
"ifconfig" and the card has the address 192.168.1.25/24 and I can ping
this address on the laptop.
Cardinfo is showing the card as Intersil PRISM2 Reference Design 11Mb/s
WLAN Card. The state is "ready" and it is showing on interrupt 3.
I have taken the PCMCIA card out of the PCI adapter and have put this in
my win 2000 laptop and have given the card an address of 192.168.1.26/24
The little lights are flashing on both cards (I assume this means they
are working) but they cannot ping each other.
I assume there are other things that I need to do to make the cards
actually work.
Does any body know what???
On the win laptop there are all kinds of settings for "wep" and
"Authentication Algorithm" and "Network Type" but how do I check the
settings on the Linux laptop??
Hope that somebody can help.
Cheers
James
