[Sheflug] Free software and the future

Where does the FSF stand on on what you might call emerging technology?

After listening again to Stallman's lecture, I began to wonder where do
mobile phones, PDAs and new cars stand with respect to the FSF's brave GNU
world.

RMS refers to "Generally useful technical information." A modern mobile
phone certainly has more processing power than say a Commodore 64, even if
the games aren't as good. A new BMW 7er for example has I'm told as much
processing power as your average desktop PC. The differences between PCs
and other devices are slowly bluring.
Is there anybody on this list whose Mobile has never crashed? I
imgaine there are many people on this list with the skills to
correct/improve their phone software, and would do so if the source was
available. I'd say the source for mobile phone software falls into the
category of "Generally useful technical information."

I just get the impression that although the FSF are making a big push
forward in the world of PCs, they could be out flanked by other devices.

I wonder if RMS owns a Mobile Phone.

Simon.

P.S. In case you are wondering, yes I do have too much time on my hands, I
should be revising.
