Have you tried the NVidia instructions? They seem to be the most comprehensive

Try /sbin/modprobe NVdriver instead (no slash). If that doesn't work then
check that /lib/modules/<kernel version>/kernel/drivers/video/NVdriver
exists. If not, the RPM you used didn't work (I'm presuming you're using the
RPMs?)
Which distro are you using? If you are using one that is directly supported at
www.nvidia.com, grab the relevant RPMs for you distro (NVIDIA_GLX and
NVIDIA_kernel) and install them. Then, edit /etc/X11/XF86Config (possibly
XF86Config-4) and change the graphics driver from 'nv' to 'nvidia'. Add this
line:
Load "glx"
to the Module section, save and restart X.
All should be well. If not, try running tail on /var/log/XFree86.0.log in a
text console, and check for any points of failure there.
