I was told the other day that in spite of the fact that when my ISDN 
line was installed it was only 3.5km away from the exchange that as 
of yesterday it was at least 5km away and probably more.

Price has fallen off after I mentioned to BT that www.zenadsl.com were 
somewhat better than their service.  That was yesterday.

Why do I want hardware that is out of date and is also probably a 
security risk ?

I've waited for years for a proper service from BT and I still haven't 
seen one.
