It doesn't have this kind of technology. Clawhammer/Sledgehammer is really at the same point as Itanium; they're roughly the same generation. In terms of Fritz chips, what we're talking about isn't initially in the CPU - it's on the motherboard. Once it's accepted there, it will move into the CPU, like the P3 serial number. We're talking probably Itanium 3/4, Hammer 2/3 - i.e., another generation away. Microsoft aren't planning on released a new OS for a while - 2003 might see an interim, but 2006 is going to be the next 'biggy'. So, we're probably talking three-four years before any CPU-based stuff comes out. However, the motherboard stuff will probably start happening in a year or two (well, it happening already, but not mainstream). > Lot of people are voting with their feet as well as their cheque books > and moving to AMD. Unfortunately, they're planning to design these systems too, it's not just Intel. See: http://www.amd.com/gb-uk/Corporate/VirtualPressRoom/0,,51_104_543_552~840,00.html For those who haven't heard me talk about this before, the UK does have a free software association which is designed to campaign about stuff like this: the Association For Free Software ;) http://www.affs.org.uk/ AFFS will be at Linux Expo in London, if anyone's going to be there please do look us up. Cheers, Alex.
